Ron's Home Page

Welcome to my home page. This is a photo of my grandchildren, Jordan and Loren. Naturally, I am very proud of these kids and it gives me great pleasure to present their photo here so all my friends can see them, too.

Here's my rig and and some of my antennas.

My primary transceiver is a Yaesu FT-1000D.   I have a Yaesu FT-890 that I use as a backup.  My Kenwood TM-255A is an all-mode transceiver that I use for 2 meters as a base station and I have an Icom IC 229H in my car.  The Ten Tec Centurion amplifier works well on all bands but I use it specifically for the WARC bands and for 160 meters.  For the other bands, I can use either the Centurion or my Henry 3KA.

The Force 12 C-4XL multiband Yagi has recently replaced a Hygain TH6 that served well for 20 years..  I use the Cushcraft R7 vertical for the WARC bands and I have an 80 meter inverted Vee.  A 2 meter Ringo Ranger is mounted on the top of my tower and I have a 4 element vertically polarized 2 meter Yagi

I was originally licensed in 1952 as K2AIO.  Over the years I have been deeply involved in amateur radio, eventually concentrating on DX.   When the FCC introduced the Vanity Call Sign system, I decided to change to a 1X2 call.  I was issued my present call, K2CO.

I am a member of the American Radio Relay League, the Medical Amateur Radio Council, the Morris Radio Club, and the North Jersey DX Association.  I served on the board of directors of the Medical Amateur Radio Council for a brief period.  I also served as president of both the Morris Radio Club and the North Jersey DX Association.  I have been the Manager of the ARRL Second District QSL Bureau since 1988.

My DXCC statistics include a total of 344 entities confirmed.  At present, I lack only Scarborough Reef to have confirmations from all of the entities on the DXCC list (#1 Honor Roll).

I am also a member of the Quarter Century Wireless Association and the A-1 Operators Club. My other awards are WAC, WAS, and 5BDXCC.
